Day 2 | Filming Preparation

02:47:00
For our second day in Exeter filming preparation, Robert and I have informed Harry Cockayne once again for the next day of filming on the 22nd December. We have planned our shots very closely to the storyboard plans. However, we only have Harry's company until 12:00 pm as he has to attend an external exam at his college.

This checklist shows the exact equipment that Robert and I are going to be bringing to the set to use for filming tomorrow.
The weather forecast for this day we are planning to film on is looking good with sunny spells with light clouds. We want the weather to be more cloudy rather than sunny so the the weather matches the connotations of a gritty British film.

Rick assessment 2

17:34:00
This second risk assessment I have made is for the second scene of our short film which is the biggest and most important scene our our whole short film. So I have thought about every risk that is possible while the day of filming on East Hill happens. As we have already filmed our first attempt at East Hill and we know now what happens on the day, this risk assessment will be very accurate and will be very useful for our day of thorough filming.

Our Animatic

15:28:00
Finally Robert and I have finished our animatic which illustrates our storyboard in a film like presentation. To us , the animatic gives use a much better insight of what our short film will look like. We both think it looks great so far and are both very excited to continue with he rest of our project.

Our Storyboard

07:22:00
After lot of development and co-operative thinking, Robert and I have a much more thorough storyboard that tells the viewer every scene of our short film. This has taken us weeks to generate and complete to what we think is a high standard. This storyboard will definitely help us throughout the production of our short film that will take place in the next couple of months.

Class footage presentations

08:57:00

During last lesson, each group in our media class presented their first minute of footage they had captured so we could all give our most honest feedback including, compliments and improvements. Robert and myself also got some good ideas by watching other peoples work.
When Robert and I presented out first minute of footage, we got a good variety of compliments and improvements including the following:

First filming attempt

08:12:00
During Thursday morning, we attempted to film our first scene on the top floor of the Princess-hay car park in the city of Exeter. When we arrived, the top floor was isolated with no cars whatsoever in our way or parked nearby. This firstly gave us a good impression as we could now film with no interruptions from the other members of the public. We went straight over to the lift and got Harry (our main actor) to practice coming up the lift in sync to our recording. We all found this hard as it was hard to signal each other when it was safe to come up the lift when there was no one in the way. We tried this many times but the car park was just getting more populated with shoppers so there was more interruptions as the time went on as well as the weather getting worse.
This indicated to Robert and myself that we needed to quickly come up with another idea of how to film an effective first opening shot around the car park, so we found a great area of the car park where there was an overlook of Exeters more modern area of building structures. This was very scenic and fitted into our film well so we shot some footage in this area of the car park and got excellent results as well as the weather clearing up and getting more sunny.

Costume Designs | Zeb

07:09:00
Zeb, who is a high ranked employee of Igor (the main antagonist character), from Syndicate International. Zab and Igor are the ones who tracked down and captured 'Jack Morgan' for interrogation. Like in many action/adventure films, many antagonist characters have 'sidekicks' which is what the role of Zeb is (a sidekick villain.) Zebs matching physical build makes him appear more superior and threatening towards Jack the main protagonist.

The moodpboard above is what Robert and I have made to illustrate what we want Zeb's character to appear as. Zeb will wear an incredibly similar suit to Igor's so the audience can identify they are together. He will be ordered around by Igor which Zeb will obey and take control of the interrogation until Igor arrives from starting out in the city.

Robert and myself have decided who will be playing the role of this character called Zeb. This actor is called 'Luke Dix' who is a friend of Harry Cockayne (actor of Igor). Luke and Harry have very similar strong physical builds which fit the exact stereotypes off super athletic agents in action films.
