Day 3 | Short Film

14:09:00
Myself, Robert and the rest of the film crew spent the afternoon filming up on East Hill on the 22nd January. We assembled all of the essential equipment including the trio-pod, camera and boom microphone at 11:15 am. We then straight away went into the filming of the interrogation scene.

The day went well overall, and had some bad parts throughout, including some bad footage and incorrectly recorded sound. We also forgot to shoot some certain shots we wanted to shoot which automatically made Robert and I know that we would have to do another day of filming in this location. So we had no choice but to wait until the next filming day. Also the actors acting qualities decreased as the day went along due to tiredness and the sheer brutal coldness of the rural area. The good parts of the day included some funny moments that got us through the day swell as some very good quality shots that we will use for our main short film. Overall, our actors are very happy to perform in our short film production and are thrilled to be acting in roles they all enjoy.

We managed to film some of the interrogation scene which we will use for our actual short film, and we successfully completed the running chase scene which we were very proud of producing. We were able to accomplish this by myself driving my car at a slow speed, while Robert films Luke/Morgan running on the other side of the road.

Day 3 | Filming Preparation

13:53:00
For our next day of filming on the 22nd January, Robert and I have already begun preparing our equipment and plans for this 3rd day of filming. This next day of filming will take place in our next scene which is located on East Hill in Ottery St Mary (a much more rural area than Exeter.) I have been making a rough checklist that I have ticked off what equipment Robert and myself are planning to take with us to use, as well as making a Facebook chat for our actors to confirm their attendances to these filming days. Below is a scanned image of the rough checklist:

At 11:00 on the 22nd January is when we plan to see our actors at the set on East Hill and are hoping to shoot the main interrogation scene until 15:00pm and complete the running/chase scene until 16:20.

We will bring the same filming equipment  swell as the Tri-pod for stable filming shots and parts of the costumes for our character 'Crimson' and Morgans character 'Jack'. I will also bring all of the weapon props including the guns and smoke grenades which we will handle with caution. Also , the forecast is meant to be just sunny spells and grey clouds which is exactly what we want for our media filming.

Due to our previous experience with the last two filming days, we expect the location of the set to get busy as the day goes on, so we are making signs to Waern the public to avoid the set so we are not disturbed in a polite manner.

Audacity

16:51:00
To enhance mine and Roberts short film audio. I have been working in Audacity to remove unwanted noise for better sound quality in our film. Examples of these unwanted noises include; the character speaks and an unwanted irritable sound wave disturbance occurs. This is when I use audacity to remove all of these audio sounds so the character’s speech sounds crisp and clear for the audience to listen to while watching out short film. In my opinion, I am now experienced with audacity as I used it last year at AS level for our title opening sequence in media studies. So, my skills in Audacity have improved and are confident. After I have edited these clean and crisp audio tracks that we have recorded alongside out footage, they are inserted into the final edited film, synced up in time with the footage and are then finished.

Robert and myself  agreed to have a maximum budget of no more than £400.00. However, like most high budget films , we went over our budget by almost £200.00. This was not a huge problem, but we just didn't realise how much our budget eventually added up to.
